Suite Valley is a music collection that shares a local viewpoint to visitors and locals alike.

This song is about the feeling of release that we all have in driving across the Wivenhoe Dam Wall, because it's only then we've left the rat race behind.   Even though there's a fair amount of bush to drive through once off the Warrego, somehow the expanse of water marks the journey differently.

Those living around Fernvale and Lowood would have an entirely different idea of things, and it would be more of an ownership or homecoming than a farewell.
Still in sketch form, there will be final polished versions, also as unplugged and classical.

My thanks to Glen for showing me how to use cymbals.
An unplugged folk/country version with Blackbutt singer Margaret will appear here soon.

DRIVIN' THE WIVENHOE
Music & Lyrics ©2009 Michael Anthony

Finally out of that city
can leave it all behind
the first real taste
of open space
now its time to unwind

I love to go through this place
a ribbon of road so high
see distant plain
and waves again
always a painted sky

Drivin the Wivenhoe
quite a while yet to go
Drivin the Wivenhoe
re-member to hold it slow
Drivin the Wivenhoe
cold water down below
if y‘ dont mind me sayin so
I like Drivin the Wivenhoe

I never take notice of time along here
the rhythm of my tyres is all I can hear

Glad to be out of that city
and leave it all behind
the first real taste
of open space
now its time to unwind

Drivin the Wivenhoe
quite a while yet to go
Drivin the Wivenhoe
re-member to hold it slow
Drivin the Wivenhoe
cold water down below if y‘
dont mind me sayin so I like
Drivin the Wivenhoe
